Mwathi passed away in unclear circumstances in the combany of popular mugithi musician, DJ Faxto and a group of acquaintances after falling from the tenth story of a building where the DJ resides, situated along Thika Road.
In an official tweet, the CS said, “On the matter of the late Jeff Mwathi, have spoken to the DCI Mr. Amin this morning and instructed him to send a homicide team from the DCI headquarters to thoroughly investigate the incident and take the necessary action.”
Moments later, an official statement by the DCI was made public stating.
“Detectives from the Homicide department based at DCI Headquarters, have this morning taken over investigations into the death of 23-year-old Jeff Mwathi, from Kasarani police station.
This follows a directive by the Director of Criminal Investigations Mr Mohamed Amin, for the expeditious investigation into the death of the young man. The public is assured that no stone shall be left unturned in the investigation of this case and any person found to have been involved in the death shall face the full force of the law. Meanwhile, anyone with information that may assist us in this case is asked to volunteer it to the head of Homicide at DCI headquarters.”
