Today, at a roadside rally in Kiambu held by the Azimio la Umoja Coalition, activity was was interrupted when a tear gas canister was thrown into the crowd. Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and other Azimio leaders were addressing the rally when the incident occurred. The cause of the disruption is unclear, with some speculating that there may have been attempts to prevent Raila’s planned caravan in the area.
Despite the disruption, Odinga and other leaders condemned the attack and vowed to continue with their quest for reforms.
In a separate incident, preparations for another Azimio rally in Githurai were temporarily thrown into chaos after some individuals dismantled the dais just before the arrival of the Azimio caravan led by Raila. However, Philip Etale, the Director of Communications at the Orange Democratic Movement-ODM party, confirmed that the rally would still proceed after the dais was rebuilt. Earlier in the day, a group of people who claimed to be businessmen and residents of Githurai had staged a protest against the planned rally.

These incidents come just two days before the anticipated main rally in Nairobi city by the Azimio la Umoja Coalition, which Odinga has planned to hold over the weekend leading up to March 20.
