Kenya Defence Forces Announces 2025 Nationwide Recruitment Drive

The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has officially launched its 2025 nationwide recruitment exercise, calling on qualified professionals and aspiring officers to join its esteemed ranks. This year’s intake features opportunities for General Service Officer (GSO) Cadets, Specialist Officers, Tradesmen and women, as well as various specialized roles in key sectors such as Education, Engineering, ICT, Mass Communication, Legal, and Supply Chain Management.

According to KDF, the recruitment will be conducted across the country in October 2025. In a statement, KDF noted, “The recruitment period offers a unique opportunity to serve your country in a vital, supportive capacity.” All successful candidates will undergo rigorous selection and training processes aimed at instilling discipline, patriotism, and technical competence.

Eligibility and Requirements:

General Service Officer (GSO) Graduate Cadets, applicants must have a minimum mean grade of B (Plain) in KCSE, a C+ (Plus) in English, Mathematics, and one Science subject and must hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or institution. The training duration for General service officers is Fifteen (15) months.

General Service Officer (GSO) Regular Cadets, applicants must have a minimum mean grade of B (Plain) in KCSE, a C+ (Plus) in English, Mathematics, and one Science subject. The training duration will be three years and by the end ofthe program graduates will be awarded a bachelors degree in Defence and security studies.

Specialist Officers must have a minimum mean grade of B (Plain) in KCSE a C+ (Plus) in English, Mathematics, and one Science subject. The Chaplains/Imams require a minimum mean grade of C+ (Plus) in KCSE, must hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university/institution and must be registered with a regulatory or statutory body, where applicable. The training duration will last for Six (6) months.

Tradesmen/Women will have two Categories of entry that is:

Craft or Certificate Holders who will be required to have a minimum mean grade of D+ (Plus) in KCSE and must possess a relevant Certificate with Government Trade Test Grade II or Craft II from a recognized institution.

The other category will be Diploma Holders who must have a minimum mean grade of C (Plain) in KCSE, possess a relevant Diploma or higher qualification from a recognized institution and must be registered with the relevant statutory bodies, where applicable
