Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programs Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has defended his presence and actions in Mbeere North ahead of the upcoming by-election, pushing back against claims that he is using government development projects to campaign for the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate.

Speaking during a public engagement at Mbarwari Secondary School in Muminji Ward, CS Ruku emphasized that his constitutional mandate includes delivering development across all parts of the country—regardless of political climates.

I will not stop reaching out to the people of Kenya with development. That is my responsibility. No amount of criticism will stop me

Ruku, the former MP for Mbeere North, reiterated his endorsement of Leonard Wamuthende, UDA’s candidate for the upcoming by-election. He described Wamuthende as a leader committed to continuity and closely aligned with President William Ruto’s development agenda.

Inclusive Development and Education

Reflecting on his time as the area MP, Ruku underscored his record of inclusive leadership, especially in the education sector. He highlighted that bursary allocations were equitably distributed, cutting across all clans and communities.

I never sidelined anyone based on clan lines. I ensured bursaries were distributed equitably because education is the greatest equalizer

Major Infrastructure Projects in Progress

CS Ruku outlined several key infrastructure and development initiatives currently underway in the constituency, including: Gikuyari–Muminji–Kirie–Ishiara Road Upgrade and Kiambeere Mega Water Project expected to provide consistent access to clean water for Kiambeere, Mutito, Kirie, Iria Itune, Ndurumori, and other parts of Evurori Ward

He also announced that President William Ruto is expected to officially launch the Kiambere Dam Bulk Water Project, describing it as a transformative initiative aimed at ending water scarcity in Kiambere, Muminji, and Evurori Wards. Additionally, he cited eight ongoing electrification projects meant to expand access to power, spur local enterprise, and uplift rural livelihoods across the constituency

Warning Against Divisive Politics

In a strong-worded message, Ruku cautioned residents against leaders whom he accused of stoking division for personal political survival.

Do not allow selfish individuals to divide you for their own survival. The interests of Mbeere North must come first

Turning his attention to the opposition, the Cabinet Secretary dismissed their criticisms as baseless and lacking substance

Rallying Support for the Government

In his closing remarks, Ruku called on the people of Mbeere North to remain united and continue working with the current government for greater gains.
