The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a seven-day closure of a section of the Thika Superhighway at Nairobi’s Globe Roundabout, a move expected to temporarily disrupt traffic in the busy city corridor. In a public notice, the highways authority said the closure is necessary to allow for ongoing road works and improvements aimed at enhancing traffic flow and safety along one of Nairobi’s most important transport routes.

Temporary Traffic Disruptions Expected

According to KeNHA, the affected section near Globe Roundabout will remain closed for a full week to facilitate construction activities and related infrastructure works. The area is a major intersection linking Thika Road to Nairobi’s central business district and several other key routes. Motorists who frequently use the highway have been advised to plan their journeys in advance and consider alternative routes during the closure period to avoid heavy congestion.

Alternative Routes for Motorists

Traffic authorities have encouraged drivers to follow designated diversion routes and adhere to instructions from traffic officers who will be deployed to manage movement in the affected areas. Commuters using public transport are also expected to experience slight delays as vehicles adjust to the temporary changes in traffic patterns.
