Political analyst Herman Manyora has been charged in court over an alleged fraudulent tender deal involving Nairobi Hospital, where he is accused of obtaining money through deception. Manyora appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Paul Mutai at the Milimani Law Courts, where he denied the charge of cheating under Section 315 of the Penal Code.

According to the prosecution, the alleged offence took place between August 15 and October 30, 2024, within Nairobi County. The court heard that Manyora is accused of obtaining KSh516,000 from Josephine Luceno Kavulani. He allegedly convinced the complainant that he would help her company, Sipho Construction Limited, secure a hospital tender identified as TNH/ITB/016/24/ENGINEERING. Prosecutors stated that the payment was made based on this claim, which they argue was misleading.

Through his legal team, Manyora applied to be released on bond, stating that he is not a flight risk and had honored all summons issued by investigators. The prosecution did not oppose the request and allowed the court to determine appropriate bond terms.

In his ruling, Magistrate Mutai noted that the accused had previously complied with conditions after being released on a police bond. The court granted Manyora a personal bond of KSh2 million, requiring two contact persons as part of the terms.

The case is scheduled for mention on April 13, 2026, when further directions will be issued. The case adds to a growing number of fraud-related cases involving alleged fake tenders, highlighting the risks individuals and businesses face when engaging in such deals
