In Kibera law courts, a municipal priest was accused of defiling a six-year-old child in Kawangware, Nairobi.
On March 25, Bishop Michael Shikutsani Masinde of the African Green Cross Apostles Church is accused of defiling his neighbor’s kid inside his home.
Masinde enticed the youngster inside his house after sending the other children out with money to purchase sweets when she was playing with a group of other children outside their parents’ residences.
He is accused of forcibly undressing the youngster before allegedly defiling her.
He eventually paid her money to purchase her silence, but other youngsters observed her leave Bishop Masinde’s residence in an odd state.
The youngsters raised an alert, and Bishop Masinde was apprehended and turned over to the police.
The kid was transferred to a city hospital, where she was treated and medical paperwork was completed.
Bishop Masinde rejected the allegations in front of Resident Magistrate William Tulel, claiming, through a lawyer, that he was framed because of a feud between him and the child’s father.
He requested mercy, stating that he is a father of six children who rely on him and that he is not a flight risk because he is a bishop who heads a church.
The clergyman was freed on an Sh500,000 bond. The issue will be discussed on April 20.
