A New Strain Of Gonorrhea Invades Kenya

Health professionals have warned Kenyans to exercise caution after a new strain of STD was identified in in the country. According to researchers at the National Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), these diseases which are said to be closely connected to Gonorrhea have never been reported in the nation before.

Professor Samson Muuo the Deputy Chief Researcher at the KEMRI Germ Research Center disclosed that all 424 Kenyan women, aged 15 and above who took part in the study conducted in two hospitals showed Gonorrhea and Chlamydia symptoms.

“The two Gene types we identified, MtrR and 23S rRNA, which are related to the state of refusing treatment have no connection to the sort of sickness that has previously been reported. The best guidance on the disease’s spread comes from the border town of Busia. This infection is likely to spread across these two regions,” said Professor Muuo.
