According to Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua, DP Wiliam Ruto’s running partner will come from the Mt Kenya region, not Western Kenya. Gachagua said ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi was being discussed in an interview with Citizen TV on Monday. “On March 15, we have our NDC to introduce our candidate William Ruto, and then other things will happen,” he stated.
“However, in my opinion, Ruto is a presidential contender, and his running companion will emerge from the mountain when the moment is right.” Mudavadi and the Kenya Kwanza leaders were informed of the alliance’s formation, according to Gachagua. “We were quite fort-right when they came for a conversation since we are honest people. We decided that the running buddy should be from the mountain (Mt Kenya region), they were told “he stated “We don’t want to deceive anyone. They are not going to be jogging partners.”
According to a poll conducted by Radio Africa Group between February 1 and 5, respondents preferred DP Ruto’s running mates across all 47 counties.
He stated that an announcement on what Mudavadi would do will be made shortly, despite the fact that speculation and criticism are rampant.
Mudavadi is expected to be named Chief Minister and Minister of Finance if Ruto wins the president, giving him a broad mandate to control government ministries and revive the economy.
Interior CS Fred Matiang’i is currently the head of the National Development Implementation and Communication Committee and the supervisor of government departments.
Given that Western Kenya has traditionally favored Raila, it is questionable whether Mudavadi and Ford Kenya party chairman Moses Wetang’ula would be able to rally the region behind Ruto.
For example, most people in Western Kenya voted for Raila in the 2007 and 2017 elections, as well as in 2013 when Mudavadi campaigned for President.
