EDUCATION STAKEHOLDERS IN KISII WORRIED OVER INTERFERENCE BY POLITICIANS

Education stakeholders in Kisii county have raised a red flag over the continued interference of schools running by politicians. The stakeholders have attributed this trend to the prevail record of dismal performance of many schools in the region. They now want politicians to back off schools affairs maintaining that education should not be politicized.

The Educationists who spoke during a community Education Day in Kisii county decried the current interference in schools’ administration by some board members and politicians who use their powers to violently eject heads of the schools in the region.

According to them, the trend if left unabated is likely to cripple the education sector in the county.

Citing the recent forceful a principal of a school in Bonchari constituency the observers have called for immediate action towards averting the looming crisis.

Also present during the event was Kisumu county TSC director, Patrick Nyagosia.

Nyagosia has encouraged the stakeholders to continue playing their role in a bid to better education in Kisii County.

The education sector in Kisii has had a raft of controversies, with the removal of school heads said to have taken an alarming trend.
