Body shape is all about proportion, and fashion is all about dressing those proportions to look their very best. When thinking about body types, don’t focus on height and weight, focus on shape. A slender girl can have the same body shape as a curvy gal, just as a short woman can have the same body shape as her taller friend. It’s about accentuating your shape and enhancing your features to come out looking elegant and chic.
Each of us is unique with unique bodies too. Once you’ve determined your body shape, you can begin to consider which fashion trends and outfits to embrace and which to avoid. Spend some time in front of the mirror and do a fair and honest assessment of your body. Then use the following tips to help you out.
Body types fall into three categories; Apple, Pear and Hour Glass shapes.
Dressing the Apple Body type.
Ladies with this body type hold weight on their arms and waist. The largest part is their waist and the smallest is the hips.
Avoid skirts that are tight around the waist or which fall at your natural waist. You can also wear a trumpet skirt or skirts with a hanky hem. Also go for Skater skirts or dresses.Wear the right shoes. If you have an apple-shaped body, then you should create balance on your lower body by wearing shoes that emphasize your legs. When it comes to tops, you should also avoid wearing an outfit with a different pattern in the belly area. This will draw more attention to your belly.
Avoid wearing thick belts, which will draw more attention to your middle.
Avoid clingy shirts or dresses, which will also draw attention to your middle. Go for blouses with V-Necks.
Dressing the Pear Body type
Ladies with pear body shapes have full hips or thighs, a defined waist, shoulders that are narrower than hips, a small top as well as a small bust.
To dress a pear body type, look for bottoms that will minimize your lower half, lightly gathered skirts that skim your body without adding volume.
Avoid details such as whiskering and embellished pockets. You can also wear pants that fall straight from the widest part of your hip and A-Line skirts.
Dressing the Hour Glass Body shape
With the hour glass body shape, the torso and hips are approximately the same width – with a very defined waist.
When dressing this body shape, use your waist as the focal point when dressing. Dress to flatter your curves by following your body’s outline. Also balance your top and bottom while accentuating your waist. Embrace V-neck dresses and tops. Go for pencil skirts, wrap dresses and crop tops.
Remember, no matter what body type you are, you are beautiful so learn to be confident in your skin. Get up, get dressed and show up!
