Isaac Ruto blames former Health CS for current health crisis

Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto has accused former health cabinet secretary James Macharia for orchestrating the current health crisis for having signed a CBA with doctors in 2013 yet he was not their employer.Ruto said Macharia signed the CBA and kept it since 2013, only to produce it for the governors when the health workers started the strike.

Speaking at Kiptenden Primary School, Bureti constituency in Kericho county, the Bomet governor said the health sector is devolved and the national government should surrender all the responsibilities to the counties and give them enough funding.

He said that doctors and nurses have a right to go on strike and every county must work their part to negotiate with the striking health workers.

Doctors and nurses in Bomet county are not participating in the strike called by their national unions.

This is after they made an agreement with the governor on how their concerns will be addressed before the strike was called.
