Five-time world cross country champion Paul Tergat’s ascendancy to the National Olympic Committee of Kenya chairmanship was jolted after the incumbent Kipchoge Keino has announced he will join the race.
Tergat, a former world marathon record holder, was set to be elected unopposed as the new head of the troubled NOCK.
This was after the incumbent Kipchoge Keino, who has been in charge for nearly 20 years, failed to secure a nomination.
However, Keino has today declared that he is in the race and will collect the nomination forms at the NOCK elections electoral board to defend his seat.
The NOCK electoral board has set the deadline for submitting nomination papers on friday, september 22 before the polls are held on September 29.
