Kenya Rugby Union’s search for sevens coach continues

Former Zimbabwe and Canada sevens coach Liam Middleton and Brazilian coach Chris Neill are among the nine foreigners who have applied for the Kenya Sevens coaching job. Immediate former coach Benjamin Ayimba, whose one-year contract expired last month, and his assistant Paul Murunga, lead the local legion on the shortlist of 15 candidates to become next coach.

With the closure of the application for Kenya Sevens men’s and women’s management teams jobs, the Kenya Rugby Union has already started interviews as the search for new permanent coaches continues. Others who are on KRU’s radar for the demanding job include former Kenya Sevens Coach Mitch Ocholla (current Strathmore coach), Impala RFC sevens coach Nick Abok, Kenya Harlequin’s Charles Cardovillis and former Kenya sevens captain Innocent Simiyu.
