Kidero says Jubilee is frustrating his administration

Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero appeared before the Senate Finance Committee to shed light on the recovery of 72 billion shillings owed by the state government to the county government.
The Nairobi government is now pegging its hope on the senate finance and investments committee to assist it on the recovery of 72bn owed by the state.
Kidero accused the national government of using the debt to sabotage operations at the county.
According to the petition, national governments debt to the county including those of state corporations amounting toShs8.9bn.
One of the highest defaulters of the debt is the Department of Defence Land (DOD) at Embakasi Garison and another Sh2bn from staff arrears inherited from the defunct city council.
However the senators were curious to know what measures he had put in place for the reimbursement of the money.
This even as they questioned the county’s borrowing of 5bn from Equity Bank.
Oh his part, Kidero cites frustrations by the Jubilee administration owing to his political alignment.
At the same time, he blamed the senator Mike Sonko for not fighting for the county in the recovery of the debt.
The committee is now expected to summon the governor after it completes its investigations on the matter.
