Kingi says Jubilee cannot woo the Coastal region

Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi says Jubilee intrigues in the region will not sway their loyalty from ODM party.

ODM leaders in Kilifi county on Saturday termed President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto’s frequent trips to conquer the coast region as fruitless.

They said even if Kenyatta relocated statehouse and operated from Mombasa he would not win the hearts of the people.

Led by Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi together and other top coastal opposition leaders, they said Jubilee has failed to deliver to the people of Coast and told them to stop wasting time campaigning in the region.

The leaders said ODM was popular in the Coast region and those defecting to Jubilee had no impact to the party as each day the support was getting stronger.

Speaking at Dr. Krapha memorial grounds in Rabai Kingi said he personally did not see any reason for joining Jubilee as it did not add any value .

The Kilifi Governor said since Governor Mvurya defected to Jubilee nothing has been done for development .

He said allocation of devolved funds would only increase under Raila Odinga presidency on August 9 when NASA gets to power as the afunds shall go up from the current 15 percent allocated to counties to 47 percent.

The governor says even if the president shifted statehouse operations to the Coast, he would not win the hearts of the people,,,,

Kingi spoke a time when the president and his deputy are in Coast for the past three days inspecting development projects for the past four days.

They have been making constant trips with a view to lure voters support which has faced heavy resistance from the opposition leaders.

Two weeks ago DP Ruto was at Dr. Kraph memorial grounds for a rally where he received ODM defectors including his Deputy Kennedy Kamto and area MCA Anthony Kenga Mupe who is seeking Rabai parliamentary seat.

The leaders claimed they had dumped ODM because it has no democracy particularly in the nominations as there were candidates who were preferred by the leadership.

Kingi dismissed claims that there was no Democracy in ODM as stated by those defecting to Jubilee.

Kingi also dismissed claims that he had preferred candidates already in his line up ahead of nominations.

During the rally he received elected MCAs who have defected from other parties to ODM and aspirants.
