MAVOKO MP ARRAIGNED IN COURT RELEASED ON CASH BAIL

After being under the police raider since last week, Mavoko MP Patrick Makau was finally arraigned in court.The MP who was represented by lawyers Wilfred Nyamu, Daniel Maanzo and Eric Mutua is charged with willfully and unlawfully set fire to the police post container, administration police service uniforms, four wooden beds, four mattresses and assorted properties valued at 500,000 shillings, the property of the police service.

On the second count, Makau is accused of uttering words that incited the mob towards the destruction of police property.

In the third count, the MP is accused of destructing a police container which could be used as evidence in the judicial proceedings in a case involving the murder of Lawyer Willy Kimani, his client and a Taxi driver.

The case will be mentioned in the same court on 26th August 2016 while the hearing is set for 16th September.

His lawyers said the charges are a mere fabrication which is made to intimidate the accused in the course of his duties.

The MP was escorted to court by Mps from Mbooni Michael Kisoi, Kibwezi East Jessica Mbalu, Kathiani Robert Mbui, EALA Peter Mathuki and former Kathiani Mp Wavinya Ndeti.

He was arrested on Monday morning when he presented himself to CID headquarters.
