Travel and Wildlife CS According to Rebecca Miano, the government will soon begin the Tembea Kenya campaign, which aims to increase internal travel. The CS urged the industry’s private sector participants to leverage their regular encounters with visitors and collaborate with the ministry to better Kenya’s tourist experience. According to her, the cooperation is a component of the ministry’s aggressive aim to boost incoming receipts from Sh352 billion to Sh824 billion and tourist arrivals from 2.086 million to five million by 2027.
Miano recognized the role the private sector plays in reshaping the travel and tourism industry, including organizing and taking part in regional and global events, running marketing campaigns, advocating for policies, creating cutting-edge travel goods, and sharing market intelligence.
The Cabinet Secretary reassured the interested parties that she has reviewed the concerns, proposals, and recommendations they brought up with her predecessors, noting that several are still being worked on. Going forward, the ministry pledges to collaborate with the business sector in order to improve and create a favorable atmosphere that will change the tourist sector in a number of ways. These include marketing and promotion of tourism, sustainability and climate change, safety and security, data, information, and feedback mechanisms, as well as collaborative bidding for international business events.
According to Miano, the National Tourism Crisis Management Center, the Kenya Tourism Federation Safety & Communication Center, the Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Center-Eastern Africa, and the Tourist Police Unit would also be added to the cooperation to enhance tourist security.
