NATIONAL ICT SECTOR POLICY GUIDELINES TO BE REPLACED, AFTER 10 YEARS

The government will replace the 10 year old National ICT sector policy guidelines to provide a new framework for sustained development of the ICT sector for the next five years. Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru says the policy to be ready by end of June will lead and guide the regulations of ICT in the country.

According to Mucheru this is a long term policy that will address several issues that are critical to our economy, currently stakeholders are giving their views on the document.

The new policy will address infrastructure proposals, prevailing legal and regulatory instruments with a view to optimizing the strategies on environmental issues arising from infrastructure development as well as identify human capacity requirement among other issues.
