Obiri, Managoi miss out on IAAF awards top 3 slot

Elijah Manang’oi and Hellen Obiri have missed out the slots of the top three in the IAAF World Athletes of the Year.
According to the list unveiled by the world athletic board on Monday afternoon, the duo did not appear in the list of finalists after not gathering enough votes to make it to the top three.

Among the shortlisted for the awards are, the Qatar national Mutaz Essa Barshim, Mo Farah from Britain and Wayde Van Niekerk of South Africa for the men slots while Ethiopian Almaz Ayana, Ekaterini Stefanidi of Greece and Nafissatou Thiam of Belgium for the women slots.

Manang’oi won his maiden world title in London, bagging the 1500m gold while Obiri produced a scintillating run to beat Ethiopia’s Almaz Ayana to the 5,000M crown.
