
The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has informed the public about a planned power outage set to impact Nairobi County and four other counties on Tuesday, July 18, 2023. The other regions that will be affected include Homabay County, Nyeri County, Embu County, and Mombasa County.
The Ushirika Estate in Nairobi will experience an impact, with certain areas being affected, including sections of Muratina Road, Mweni Road, Sergeant Kahande Road and nearby customers.
In Homa Bay County, Luore and Sofia Estates will experience a blackout in locations such as Royal Media Services (RMS) offices, Homabay High School, Homabay County Referral Hospital, Governor Gladys Wanga’s office, Kenya Medical Teaching College (KMTC), Tom Mboya University, Cold Springs Hotel among other areas.
Power outages in Embu County will have an impact on Masinga, Mutuamwaki, Msingini, and Kyeeteni areas, affecting specific locations such as Masinga KenGen Camps, Sogea, Kamukunji, Mukusu, Kaewa, Kikumini, Kangonde, Ulutya, Makila, Kiseuni, Kwakwa Lodge, Masinga Boys and Girls High Schools, as well as nearby customers.
Nyeri County will experience power interruptions affecting Mweiga Town, Endarasha, Amboni, and Kanyagia areas, which will also impact locations like Solio Ranch, Kieni Dairies, Watuka, Kamatongu, Mwireri, Embarigo, Sangare, Kanyagia, and nearby customers. In Mombasa County, specific areas to be affected include Bamburi, Utange, and Kadzandani.
Residents and businesses in the affected areas are advised to prepare for prolonged power outages lasting over eight hours.
