Three police officers killed in Samburu cattle rustling

Four people including 3 police officers and 1 peace crusader have been killed while five others seriously injured by bandits during a cattle raid in Samburu east, Samburu County.

According to the county police commander Alfred Ageng’o, the officers were tracking down stolen animals during the ambush.

The rustlers managed to drive away the animals before reinforcement arrived at the scene.

The officers had found the animals and were loading them to a lorry when the unfortunate happenings unfolded in the area.
The survivors had multiple injuries from the ambush.
More security personnel from different formations including the General Service Unit, GSU, have been deployed to the area to pursue the assailants.

More than a dozen security personnel were killed in the same area in similar circumstances. Another group of 42 officers had been killed in the nearby Suguta in an ambush while manning the area in 2012.
