A tragic incident has rocked the Kilimani area of Nairobi after a 55-year-old domestic worker, Zeitun Kavayo, died under suspicious circumstances. Four Sudanese nationals—a mother, her two daughters, and a son—have been arrested in connection with the fatal fall.
The Incident
According to police reports, Zeitun fell from the fifth floor of an apartment on Mpunga Road in Kilimani on September 18, 2025. She had been contracted by the family for routine laundry work. Allegedly, the family accused her of stealing Ksh.5,000 from a trouser pocket, which led to a heated confrontation.
Zeitun, a resident of Kibera, was reportedly called back to the apartment after already completing her work. It is during this second visit that the fatal incident occurred.
Police and the suspects claim she may have jumped from the balcony—either to escape or possibly die by suicide. However, her family strongly disputes this version of events.

The suspects’ defense attorney, Wilson Hassan Nandwa, stated that the son of the household noticed Ksh.5,000 missing from his trouser pocket after Zeitun had done the laundry. He allegedly called her back to the house to question her about it where she dinied taking any money and when he insisted on involving the police,she allegedly tried to escape and fell from the balcony.
However, Zeitun’s family strongly disputes the suicide or escape narrative.
