
The Jubilee Party has officially endorsed former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i as its presidential candidate for the 2027 General Election, marking a major step in the party’s bid to reclaim political relevance ahead of the next polls.
Speaking during the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting — the first since its National Delegates Conference — Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni confirmed that Dr. Matiang’i’s application to run for president under the party’s banner had been unanimously approved.

Jeremiah KioniIn addition to the endorsement, Dr. Matiang’i was appointed Deputy Party Leader, placing him at the centre of Jubilee’s leadership structure.
The Secretary General further revealed that the NEC meeting focused on strengthening the party’s structure and grassroots strategy to enhance its presence across the country.
During the meeting, several vacant leadership positions were also filled. Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama was appointed as the National Assembly Whip, while Senator James Lomenen was named Senate Whip.
In a show of solidarity, the party extended its condolences to the family of Mama Ida Odinga, wife of ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Mr. Kioni also hinted at a possible review of the party’s relationship with the Azimio la Umoja Coalition, cautioning that any move to exit the coalition could have “legal implications” for some of the party’s Members of Parliament.
