Motorists using Ngong Road should brace for traffic disruptions starting November 18 to December 10, 2025, as the government undertakes the construction of a new flyover at the Ngong Road Junction. According to a statement issued by the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), the partial closure and diversion of traffic will be necessary to facilitate safe and efficient construction works. The flyover project, part of the ongoing efforts to ease congestion along key city corridors, is expected to improve traffic flow significantly once completed.

KURA noted that traffic marshals and signage will be deployed to guide motorists through designated diversion routes and ensure smooth movement during the construction period. Commuters are advised to plan their journeys in advance and, where possible, use alternative routes to avoid delays.

We urge all road users to exercise patience and cooperate with traffic officers and contractors on site as we work to deliver this critical infrastructure

The Ngong Road flyover is one of several projects under Nairobi’s urban mobility improvement program, aimed at reducing congestion and enhancing road safety. Once completed, it will provide a seamless link between Ngong Road, Ngong Town, and adjoining areas, cutting travel time for thousands of daily commuters.

Residents and business owners around the junction have been assured that access to premises will be maintained throughout the construction period, though temporary inconveniences are expected.

For real-time updates on traffic flow and diversions, motorists are encouraged to follow KURA’s official social media pages and traffic alerts from the Nairobi Metropolitan Services.
