A manhunt is underway after police recovered 20 kilograms of cannabis sativa during an operation in the Tasia Mabatini area of Embakasi on Friday, November 20. Officers from the Embakasi Police Station conducted a targeted raid at a house linked to a suspect, where the drugs were discovered. According to a statement issued by the National Police Service (NPS), the suspect remains at large as officers intensify efforts to trace and apprehend him. Police confirmed that the seized drugs have been secured at the station as investigations continue.

The NPS commended officers involved in the operation, highlighting the ongoing nationwide commitment to combating narcotics and other forms of crime. The agency noted that this raid comes just a day after a similar crackdown in Lamu County.

In Lamu, officers in Mpeketoni, acting on a nationwide directive to curb illegal drug distribution, recovered four large rolls of cannabis from a property in Sefu Village, Bomani. A female suspect was arrested and taken to Mpeketoni Police Station, where she awaits arraignment. The seized evidence has been secured at the station.

Authorities emphasized that these coordinated operations are part of a broader strategy aimed at protecting communities from the dangers associated with drug abuse and trafficking. Police urged members of the public to cooperate with ongoing efforts by reporting suspicious activities that may aid in dismantling drug distribution networks.

These consecutive operations underscore intensified efforts by Kenyan police to address narcotics-related challenges that continue to threaten public safety. Nairobi and other major urban centres remain prime targets for the distribution of cannabis and other illicit substances, prompting enhanced surveillance, intelligence gathering, and coordinated enforcement actions.

Police continue to call on communities nationwide to remain vigilant and work closely with law enforcement to safeguard neighbourhoods.
