Golf enthusiasts are set for an exciting day of competition as Kisii Sports Club prepares to host more than 100 golfers for the highly anticipated Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) Golf Tournament on February 28. The one-day event is expected to attract top amateur golfers from across the region, further cementing Kisii Sports Club’s growing reputation as a premier destination for competitive golf in Kenya.
Stableford Format to Drive Fair and Exciting Competition
The tournament will be played using the Stableford scoring format, a system designed to accommodate golfers of different handicaps while maintaining competitive balance. Players earn points based on their net performance on each hole, a structure that encourages consistency and keeps the contest lively across all divisions. Organisers say the format is ideal for maximising participation and ensuring that every golfer remains competitive throughout the round on the club’s well-manicured course.
Club Leadership Confident Ahead of Big Event
Club Captain Adrian Monari expressed confidence in the club’s preparedness, highlighting the steady progress Kisii Sports Club has made in recent years.
We are delighted to welcome over 100 golfers for this CBK tournament. Kisii Sports Club has grown significantly in terms of infrastructure and reputation. With the support of our leadership and members, we have positioned the club as a key venue for major golf events in the region
Adrian MonariWide Range of Prizes on Offer
Golfers will compete for top honours across multiple categories, including the Overall Winner, Men’s Winner, and Ladies’ Winner, as well as 1st and 2nd Runners-Up in the main categories. The competition will also be divided into Division 1, Division 2, and Division 3, each featuring Winners and Runners-Up. Additional awards will recognise Guest Winners, Sponsor Winners, Senior Winners, and Junior Winners, ensuring inclusivity across all playing groups. Skill-based contests such as Longest Drive (Men and Ladies), Nearest to the Pin, and Best Effort prizes are expected to add extra excitement to the day.
Financial Literacy Boost for Golfers
Beyond the fairways, participants will also benefit from a practical financial education component. Sophie Ongalo, CBK Kisii Centre Manager, confirmed that golfers will be introduced to investment opportunities through the DhowCSD platform. The initiative aims to empower golfers with knowledge on investing in Treasury Bills and Bonds, promoting confidence in government securities alongside sporting excellence.
Boost for Sports Tourism in Kisii County
Under Monari’s leadership, Kisii Sports Club has enhanced its tournament calendar, upgraded course standards, and attracted reputable sponsors—developments that have elevated its standing on the national golfing scene. The February 28 CBK Golf Tournament is expected to boost local sports tourism while delivering a professionally organised and highly competitive golfing experience in the heart of Kisii County.
