Siaya Governor James Orengo has sharply criticised President William Ruto, accusing him of weakening the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) by reducing it to a regional political outfit centered in Luo Nyanza. Speaking during his tour of Homa Bay County, Orengo alleged that the President is also encouraging political violence and the use of hired groups to disrupt ODM rallies across the region. According to the governor, these actions undermine democratic engagement and limit the party’s ability to mobilize support freely.
Orengo further claimed that President Ruto has failed to honor commitments made to the late Raila Odinga, who previously led ODM. He pointed to a documented 10-point agenda that he says has not been implemented, despite assurances given earlier.
