Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has welcomed former Inooro FM presenter Evelyn Waithira Muithirania into the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) following her decision to leave the Jubilee Party and join the emerging political outfit. Waithira’s entry into DCP marks a new chapter in her political journey as she prepares to compete for the Murang’a County Woman Representative seat in the 2027 General Election. The former radio presenter has expressed interest in seeking the parliamentary position through the DCP ticket, positioning herself for the party’s nomination process ahead of the next general election.

Waithira Sets Sights on Murang’a Woman Representative Seat

Waithira is expected to battle for the DCP ticket during the party primaries scheduled for March 2027. Securing the nomination would place her in contention for the Murang’a County Woman Representative position. Her decision to join DCP comes as political parties and prospective candidates begin organising themselves ahead of the 2027 elections, with aspirants seeking political platforms to advance their ambitions. For Waithira, the move from Jubilee to DCP signals her intention to pursue elective politics under Gachagua’s party as she seeks to transition from broadcasting into public leadership.

Gachagua Welcomes New Political Ally

Gachagua welcomed Waithira into DCP, adding another aspirant to the party as it continues positioning itself ahead of the 2027 General Election. The former Deputy President has been involved in building the party’s political presence, particularly in the Mt Kenya region, where several leaders and prospective candidates are seeking to establish their political bases. Waithira’s entry could also strengthen DCP’s efforts to attract new members and candidates as competition for elective seats begins to take shape.

With the March 2027 primaries approaching, her immediate political challenge will be securing the party’s nomination before facing other contenders in the race for the Murang’a Woman Representative seat. The 2027 contest is expected to attract interest as aspirants begin declaring their intentions and aligning themselves with political parties ahead of the polls.
