Barcelona have officially completed the signing of highly-rated right winger Roony Bardghji from Danish champions FC Copenhagen, the La Liga club announced on Monday. The 19-year-old Swedish youth international has signed a four-year contract with the Catalan giants, keeping him at the club until June 30, 2029. Although the club did not disclose the transfer fee, Spanish media reports estimate the deal to be worth around €2.5 million (approximately $3 million).
Bardghji, who made his first-team debut for Copenhagen during the 2021/2022 season, quickly rose through the ranks thanks to his flair, creativity, and eye for goal. He scored 15 goals in 84 appearances for the Danish side, earning a reputation as one of the brightest young prospects in Scandinavian football.
However, his promising trajectory was temporarily halted in May 2024, when he suffered a serious knee injury that sidelined him for nearly a year. After an extensive rehabilitation period, the winger made his long-awaited return to action in March 2025, showing encouraging signs of regaining his form and fitness.
The Sweden U21 international, who was born in Kuwait and moved to Sweden at a young age, becomes Barcelona’s second signing of the summer transfer window, following the arrival of goalkeeper Joan Garcia from cross-town rivals Espanyol. His signing is part of the club’s continued efforts to rejuvenate the squad with young, high-potential talent.
Bardghji is expected to link up with the Barcelona squad for their upcoming pre-season tour, where he will have the opportunity to impress new head coach Hansi Flick. The German tactician will assess whether the young winger is ready to compete at the highest level and potentially secure a place in the first-team squad for the 2025/2026 season. Alternatively, a loan move could be considered to ensure he gains regular playing time and fully regains match sharpness following his injury layoff.
Barcelona fans will be eager to see what the exciting youngster can bring to the team as the club continues its rebuild under Flick, with a strong focus on developing emerging talent to complement its experienced core.
