A court has directed that the succession case concerning the estate of the late Justice David Majanja be urgently transferred to the Presiding Judge for further directions. The order follows concerns raised over the declining health of one of the beneficiaries, Gerishon Majanja, who is reported to be bedridden. Lawyers representing the parties urged the court to fast-track the matter, citing the need for an expedited hearing due to the beneficiary’s condition. The case was last mentioned before Justice Chemitei, who instructed all parties to file additional documentation to clarify outstanding issues surrounding the estate.
During the virtual session, Justice Majanja’s father also appeared before the court. Judges were informed that his frail health has added to the urgency of resolving the succession dispute without further delays. Counsel appearing in the matter included representatives for Gerishon Majanja and Jason Oudo, as well as lawyers acting for beneficiaries Janet, Louis, and Allan Majanja. They jointly requested that the proceedings be prioritised.
Acknowledging the urgency, the court ordered that the file be placed before the Presiding Judge immediately for directions on the way forward. The succession case has attracted public interest given the prominence of the late judge and the welfare concerns surrounding members of his family. All parties have now been directed to appear before the Presiding Judge’s court, where the matter is expected to proceed expeditiously.
