Comedian-turned-activist Eric Omondi has embarked on an ambitious 486-kilometre charity walk from Nairobi to Mombasa aimed at raising funds to establish a permanent Sisi Kwa Sisi Help and Rescue Centre. Omondi, who has increasingly used his public platform to champion social causes, flagged off the long-distance trek with the goal of mobilising support for vulnerable Kenyans in need of emergency assistance, shelter, and rehabilitation services.
The Sisi Kwa Sisi initiative has previously intervened in humanitarian crises, offering relief support, rescue services, and community aid. However, the lack of a permanent base has limited the programme’s capacity. The planned rescue centre is expected to provide a stable facility to coordinate operations and expand outreach activities. Speaking at the start of the walk, Omondi called on well-wishers, corporates, and partners to contribute towards the cause, emphasising that the journey is not just physical but humanitarian.
This walk is about standing with Kenyans who feel forgotten. A permanent rescue centre will help us respond faster and more effectively
Eric Omondi The Nairobi-to-Mombasa route, spanning nearly 500 kilometres, is expected to take several days, with supporters joining him in different towns along the way to raise awareness and funds. Omondi’s activism in recent years has seen him engage in campaigns focused on social justice, economic empowerment, and disaster response, earning him recognition beyond the entertainment industry.
The charity walk is expected to culminate in Mombasa, where a fundraising drive and public engagement activities will be held to rally further support for the construction of the Sisi Kwa Sisi Help and Rescue Centre.
