Three-time Olympic champion Faith Kipyegon is set to headline the women’s 3000m race at the prestigious Herculis EBS Monaco scheduled for July 10, 2026. The Kenyan middle-distance star will be making a highly anticipated return to Stade Louis-II, the same venue where she delivered a historic performance in 2023 by breaking the mile world record. Kipyegon’s 2023 Monaco performance formed part of a sensational season that she has previously described as the best of her career. During that year’s Diamond League circuit, she shattered three world records — cementing her dominance in middle-distance running. Across the last three Diamond League seasons alone, she has set five world records at various meetings, underlining her consistency at the highest level.

Recent World Record Heroics

Her most recent global mark came in the 1500m at the Prefontaine Classic held in Eugene in July last year. There, Kipyegon stormed to victory in 3:48.68, lowering the previous record she had set in Florence in 2024 by 0.36 seconds. She also delivered a Diamond League record in the 3000m in Silesia last season, finishing less than a second shy of the long-standing world record set by China’s Wang Junxia over three decades ago.

Chasing More History in Monaco

Holding world records in both the 1500m and the mile, Kipyegon now has another opportunity to make history in Monaco. A record-breaking run in the 3000m would see her set world records in four consecutive years at Diamond League meetings an extraordinary feat.

Diamond League 2026 Season Outlook

The Monaco meet will serve as the 10th stop of the 2026 Diamond League season. The series kicks off in Doha on May 8, with the grand finale scheduled for September 4–5 in Brussels. Kipyegon remains one of the most decorated athletes in Diamond League history, boasting:

  • 29 race victories
  • 5 overall Diamond League trophies

Strong Start to 2026

The Kenyan icon has already opened her 2026 campaign on a high note, clinching victory in her debut 10km road race signaling strong form ahead of the track season. With Monaco’s fast track and her proven pedigree at the venue, all eyes will be on Kipyegon as she targets yet another historic performance.
