The Kenyan government has released over Ksh.2.4 billion to facilitate payments under the June 2026 cycle of the Inua Jamii Cash Transfer Programme, targeting vulnerable groups across the country. The funds will support more than 1.2 million beneficiaries, including elderly citizens aged 70 and above and persons living with severe disabilities. Each registered individual is set to receive Ksh.2,000 as part of the latest payment cycle.
Disbursements officially began on August 3, 2026, and are being handled through the State Department for Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs. The initiative forms part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen social safety nets. Principal Secretary Joseph Motari reaffirmed that the programme remains central to reducing poverty and improving the quality of life for vulnerable citizens. He noted that consistent financial support helps households meet essential needs such as food, healthcare, and daily expenses.
