National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has urged the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Central Management Committee to swiftly remove Secretary General Edwin Sifuna from his position, warning that his continued stay risks deepening divisions within the party. Speaking on Sunday in Suba South Constituency, Mbadi, who previously served as ODM National Chairman, alleged that Sifuna and a section of his allies have shifted their political allegiance to the United Opposition. According to Mbadi, leaders who no longer support the party’s direction should step aside rather than destabilize ODM from within.
If someone does not agree with ODM policies, that person should leave so we can know how many people he is walking away with

“Someone like Sifuna cannot continue serving the party because he is already conflicted. He is promoting another agenda. Why pretend? You cannot keep him in the party
John Mbadi Calls for Disciplinary Action
Mbadi criticized what he termed as indiscipline by the Secretary General toward party leadership, particularly toward party leader Oburu Oginga. He pressed the Central Management Committee to act without delay to safeguard party unity and ensure smooth operations aligned with ODM’s policies.
Dismisses Linda Wananchi Campaign
The CS also dismissed the Linda Wananchi campaign spearheaded by Sifuna alongside Babu Owino and James Orengo, arguing that the initiative lacks legitimacy and does not reflect the party’s official position.
UDA–ODM Partnership to Continue
Mbadi reaffirmed that the cooperation between ODM and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) remains intact despite resistance from dissenting members. He expressed confidence in ODM’s stability and future.
ODM is a solid party. It will remain strong the way Raila left it. Some people think we cannot play politics; we will. We will continue engaging our supporters to remain steadfast under the leadership of Oburu Oginga
