The Ministry of Education has confirmed that capitation funds for schools will be disbursed ahead of the second term reopening on April 27, 2026. The move aims to ensure smooth operations across all schools nationwide. Basic Education Principal Secretary Julius Bitok emphasized that the release of funds and the distribution of textbooks will be prioritized, particularly for students in Grade 10.
In support of the Competency-Based Education (CBE) program, the government also plans to allocate resources for the production of textbooks covering technical and applied subjects. Bitok further revealed that discussions regarding the future of junior school teachers are ongoing with the National Treasury and the Teachers Service Commission (TSC). This follows concerns from local authorities after an Environment and Labour Relations Court ruling challenged the current employment terms of these teachers.
To enhance efficiency and ensure that aid reaches the intended beneficiaries, the government is collaborating with stakeholders and private sector partners to streamline both public and privately funded scholarship programs.
