President William Ruto has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that the 2027 General Election will be conducted in a free, fair, and peaceful manner. Speaking amid rising political activity, the Head of State cautioned leaders against engaging in divisive politics, intimidation, or actions that could destabilize the country.
Addressing village elders at State House, Ruto emphasized that every Kenyan must be allowed to vote freely without fear or interference. He assured the country that the government will protect the integrity of the electoral process and safeguard citizens’ rights. He warned that any attempts to disrupt peace through threats or coercion would not be tolerated, stressing that the safety of Kenyans remains a top priority.
The President strongly criticized leaders who promote tribal divisions, saying such tactics have no place in modern Kenya. He made it clear that incitement, ethnic mobilization, and inflammatory rhetoric would be dealt with firmly. Ruto urged politicians to focus on issue-based campaigns rather than exploiting ethnic differences, noting that national unity is essential for the country’s progress.
In his address, Ruto called on village elders to play a central role in maintaining peace at the grassroots level. He encouraged them to guide their communities in upholding the law and ensuring that political activities are conducted within constitutional boundaries. Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, who attended the meeting, echoed the President’s sentiments. Murkomen highlighted the importance of dialogue and community leadership in preventing conflicts, especially as political competition intensifies.
