Suspected Spear Attacker of GSU Officer at State House Arraigned in Kibera Law Courts

The man suspected of spearing and killing a General Service Unit (GSU) officer at State House, Nairobi, has been arraigned before the Kibera Law Courts. His physical condition drew as much attention as the charges he faces.

Frail and Limping Suspect Appears in Court

Dressed in a white hoodie and brown trousers, the suspect appeared frail and was visibly limping as he was escorted to the courtroom. Notably, one of his legs was bare, missing both a shoe and a sock, forcing him to lean heavily on the other for support.

He was assisted out of a waiting vehicle by two security agents who helped him walk across the courtroom.

Details of the Arrest and Incident

The suspect, identified as Kinyuka Kinyumi, 55, was arrested at the scene on Monday following the shocking attack.

The man used a spear to kill an armed officer manning State House outside Gate D—a gate typically used by the public to access the premises. The spear struck the left side of the officer’s chest, killing him instantly.

Victim Pronounced Dead on Arrival

The officer, attached to the General Service Unit’s G Company, was pronounced dead on arrival at Kenyatta National Hospital after bleeding heavily. Authorities said the motive behind the attack, which occurred around 11 am, was not immediately clear.

Suspect’s Claims and Police Statement

Police revealed that the suspect claims to have been sent by Satan to carry out the attack. The suspect told police he walked to the area as directed by Satan

Security Context of the Attack Location

The attack took place in an area usually designated as a security clearing zone for motorists and pedestrians accessing State House. The incident has raised concerns about security protocols at one of the country’s most sensitive locations.
