In a fresh twist to the ongoing tensions within the opposition, the Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) has issued a strong statement countering the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) over claims related to the health status of ODM leader Raila Odinga.
This response comes shortly after ODM accused Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and other opposition leaders of spreading rumours about Odinga’s health.
Wiper Denies Malice, Slams ODM for “Desperation”
In a swift rebuttal, Wiper dismissed the allegations, emphasizing that Kalonzo harbours no ill intent towards his long-time political ally. The party termed ODM’s claims as “malicious” and a calculated effort to deflect attention from internal divisions within the opposition.
In a statement, Wiper noted that ODM’s move is an act of desperation aimed at diverting public focus from the cracks within the broader political arrangement they entered into with the government. They further accused ODM of using diversionary tactics instead of addressing real political issues.
“Co-Authors of National Suffering” – Wiper Hits Back
The Wiper party didn’t hold back, accusing ODM of being complicit in what it called the failures of the current regime.
Wiper also dismissed suggestions that Kalonzo was behind Raila Odinga’s failure in the recent African Union Commission Chairperson race.
Instead, the party laid the blame on the government’s diplomatic failures, which it said reflect the same poor governance plaguing the administration.
The party made it clear it would not allow Kalonzo Musyoka to be dragged into what it called ODM’s “self-inflicted political decay.”
ODM Maintains Raila is Well
Meanwhile, amid swirling rumours that Raila Odinga is battling serious health issues, ODM clarified that the former Prime Minister had travelled abroad for private engagements, asserting that “his health is not at risk.”
