President Ruto Receives CAF President’s Outstanding Achievement Award 2025

President William Ruto has been honoured with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) President’s Outstanding Achievement Award 2025, a recognition of his notable contribution to the growth and development of football in Kenya and across the African continent. The prestigious accolade was presented on Wednesday night during the 2025 CAF Awards held in Rabat, Morocco. Kenya’s Ambassador to Morocco, Jessica Gakinya, received the award on behalf of the President.

Kenya’s Commitment to Football Development Highlighted

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President, Hussein Mohammed, applauded the recognition, noting that the government’s support for sports, especially football continues to create a stronger foundation for players.

With the elaborate support structure the government is putting in place for sports and particularly football, I have no doubt our players shall soon be recipients of these coveted accolades as well

Alongside President Ruto, Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan and Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni were also recognized for their role in strengthening football institutions and championing major continental sporting programmes.

CAF Praises East African Leadership

CAF President, Dr Patrice Motsepe, lauded the three East African leaders for their exceptional dedication to advancing football across the continent.

The recognition comes after Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda successfully co-hosted the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), a tournament that showcased improved stadium facilities, enhanced logistics, and better operational standards in the region.

Kenya Preparing for AFCON 2027

Kenya is now gearing up to co-host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), a milestone expected to elevate the nation’s profile in continental football.

  • Women’s Team of the Year: Nigeria’s Super Falcons
  • Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year: Chiamaka Nnadozie
  • CAF Men’s Player of the Year: Achraf Hakimi (Morocco)
  • CAF Women’s Player of the Year: Ghizlane Chebbak (Morocco)
