Kenya Airways Kenya Airways has been forced to divert several flights and warn passengers of delays following poor visibility conditions that disrupted normal operations at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). The disruption, reported on April 10, 2026, affected both incoming and outgoing flights, with the airline confirming that safety concerns necessitated operational adjustments.

Flights Diverted to Mombasa

In an official customer notice, the airline stated that some flights were redirected to Moi International Airport as a precaution due to the reduced visibility at JKIA. Passengers were advised to expect delays as flight schedules were adjusted in response to the challenging weather conditions affecting Nairobi’s main airport.

Safety First, Says KQ

Kenya Airways emphasized that the diversions were made strictly in the interest of passenger safety, noting that such decisions are standard procedure during adverse weather conditions. The airline assured travellers that its operations teams were closely monitoring the situation and would resume normal scheduling once conditions improve.

Apology to Passengers

The carrier expressed regret over the inconvenience caused and appealed for patience and understanding from affected customers. It further noted that efforts were underway to minimize disruptions and ensure that affected passengers are re-accommodated as quickly as possible.

Operations to Normalize Soon

While no specific timeline was given for full restoration of normal operations, the airline indicated that it would continue to adjust its flight network depending on weather developments at JKIA.
