Voting is officially underway in Emurua Dikirr Constituency, Narok County, where residents have turned out to elect a new Member of Parliament following a recent vacancy. The parliamentary seat became vacant after the tragic death of former MP Johana Ng’eno, who lost his life in a helicopter crash on February 28, 2026.
In addition to the parliamentary race, voters are also participating in by-elections to fill vacant Member of County Assembly (MCA) positions. The Porro Ward MCA seat fell vacant after the death of Patrick Lerte in December 2025 while receiving treatment at Samburu County Referral Hospital. Meanwhile, Endo Ward in Elgeyo Marakwet is also holding elections following the passing of MCA Jeremiah Biwott in January 2026. Biwott had been undergoing treatment at Nairobi Hospital at the time of his death.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) confirmed that polling stations opened at 6:00 a.m. and will remain operational until 5:00 p.m. The commission assured voters that any delays experienced during the opening of polling stations will be compensated by extending closing times. Additionally, all voters who will be in the queue by 5:00 p.m. will be allowed to cast their ballots.
