The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has summoned officials from Risen Sacco and Royal Swift Express Limited following two separate road accidents that occurred along Enterprise Road in Nairobi and the Nairobi–Namanga Highway, leaving multiple people dead and several others injured. In a statement, NTSA expressed concern over a fatal crash involving a Public Service Vehicle operated by Risen Sacco along Enterprise Road in the Industrial Area. The accident claimed at least four lives and left about 15 passengers injured.

The Authority described the incident as tragic, noting that initial reports and eyewitness accounts indicated that a modified matatu, commonly referred to as a “Nganya,” may have been attempting risky stunts before the driver lost control. The vehicle reportedly overturned along the busy road, trapping passengers inside before emergency teams and members of the public rushed to the scene to assist. Images from the accident site showed the badly damaged vehicle lying on its side as rescue efforts continued.

Authorities confirmed that the victims included three passengers and a female pedestrian believed to be around 30 years old. The injured passengers were taken to different hospitals for treatment, with injuries ranging from minor to severe. NTSA also reported a second incident along the Nairobi–Namanga Highway involving a vehicle operated by Royal Swift Express Limited. Unlike the first crash, this one was non-fatal, but it still raised safety concerns.

The regulator stated that investigations into both incidents are ongoing and assured the public that appropriate action will be taken once the inquiries are completed. NTSA further urged all Public Service Vehicle operators, drivers, and crew members to observe strict road safety regulations and exercise caution to prevent similar tragedies.
