The Jubilee Party has established an inter-party committee to engage other opposition political parties on possible cooperation and coalition arrangements ahead of the 2027 General Election. The party announced that its National Executive Committee (NEC), chaired by party leader and presidential candidate Dr. Fred Matiang’i, approved the formation of the team during a meeting held on October 27, 2026. The committee will be led by former Murang’a Senator Kembi Gitura, who will work alongside Jubilee Secretary General Moitalel Ole Kenta and Janet Ong’era to coordinate discussions with like-minded political parties and coalitions. According to Jubilee, the initiative is intended to strengthen engagement among opposition formations, build consensus and explore areas of cooperation as political parties prepare for the next electoral contest.
One of the committee’s key responsibilities will be to review the draft Deed of Agreement for The Ukombozi Alliance (TUA) and recommend any changes considered necessary. The team will also explore opportunities for collaboration with other opposition groups that share similar political objectives. The party said the engagement process would provide an opportunity for opposition formations to discuss common priorities and establish a framework for working together ahead of the 2027 polls.
Jubilee Secretary General Moitalel Ole Kenta said the NEC had reaffirmed the party’s commitment to dialogue, cooperation and the pursuit of a shared agenda aimed at transforming the country. The committee is expected to present its recommendations to the NEC, which will consider the proposals and provide further direction on the party’s coalition-building efforts. The move comes as political parties position themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election, with discussions on alliances and cooperation expected to shape opposition strategies and potential electoral partnerships.
Jubilee Makes Additional Leadership Appointments
In separate resolutions, the Jubilee Party NEC approved changes to other party leadership positions as it continues to fill vacant offices. Lucy Naisaiae Kashu was appointed interim chairperson of the party’s Women’s Caucus. The appointment is expected to provide interim leadership for the caucus as the party continues its organisational activities.
Madina Yunis Mahat was also appointed interim Deputy National Organising Secretary to serve in an acting capacity and fill a vacant position within the party. The appointments form part of the party’s wider administrative arrangements as it prepares for political activities leading up to the 2027 General Election.
