The knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League continues on Wednesday with several high-profile clashes across Europe. Among the standout fixtures, Paris Saint‑Germain will face Chelsea FC in a highly anticipated rematch, while Real Madrid host Manchester City in another chapter of their intense European rivalry. Meanwhile, Arsenal FC travel to Germany to take on Bayer Leverkusen, and Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt welcome Portuguese champions Sporting CP.

Bayer Leverkusen vs Arsenal

Premier League leaders Arsenal FC head into the clash with high confidence as they continue their pursuit of multiple trophies this season. The North London club has not lifted a major title since 2020 but is enjoying a strong campaign under manager Mikel Arteta. Arsenal dominated the league phase of the Champions League, winning all eight matches to secure a direct place in the round of 16. If they manage to overcome Leverkusen, they will face either Bodø/Glimt or Sporting CP in the next round.

Defender William Saliba could return to action after missing Arsenal’s last two games due to an ankle injury. Leverkusen, currently sixth in the Bundesliga, are undergoing a rebuilding phase after a major summer overhaul that saw the departure of coach Xabi Alonso and key players such as Florian Wirtz and Granit Xhaka.

PSG vs Chelsea

Defending European champions Paris Saint‑Germain face a tough challenge against Chelsea FC in what will be their first meeting since last year’s FIFA Club World Cup Final, where Chelsea secured a 3-0 victory. PSG progressed to this stage after eliminating AS Monaco in the play-off round but have recently struggled to maintain consistency in domestic competition. Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembélé is expected to return despite recent fitness concerns.

Chelsea, coached by Liam Rosenior, are also building momentum after a convincing 4-1 win over Aston Villa, thanks to a hat-trick from João Pedro. Young talents Estevão Willian and Jamie Gittens are close to returning from injury but may not yet be ready for the big clash.

Real Madrid vs Manchester City

Spanish giants Real Madrid will once again lock horns with Manchester City in what has become one of the Champions League’s most intense rivalries. This will be the fifth consecutive season that the two clubs meet in the knockout stages. Madrid, record 15-time European champions, are dealing with several injury setbacks. Star players Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham are expected to miss the first leg, placing additional pressure on Vinícius Júnior to lead the attack.

Manchester City rotated heavily in their recent FA Cup match against Newcastle United but still managed a comfortable 3-1 victory. However, City could be without star striker Erling Haaland, who is currently recovering from an ankle injury.

Bodø/Glimt vs Sporting

Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt continue their impressive Champions League journey as they prepare to host Sporting CP at the iconic Aspmyra Stadion, located inside the Arctic Circle. Coached by Kjetil Knutsen, Bodø/Glimt stunned many during the league phase with victories over Manchester City and Atlético Madrid before eliminating Inter Milan in the play-offs.

Winger Jens Petter Hauge has been instrumental for the team, scoring six goals in the tournament so far. Sporting, led by coach Rui Borges, arrive in strong form, currently unbeaten in 12 matches. Their main attacking threat remains Colombian striker Luis Suárez, who has scored an impressive 31 goals in all competitions this season.
