The family of Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno has announced that he will be buried on Friday, March 6, following his tragic death in a helicopter crash in Mosop Constituency, Nandi County. Ng’eno lost his life in the February 28 crash at Chepkiep, an incident that also claimed the lives of several others and left the nation in mourning. After consultations between political leaders and family members, a burial programme was agreed upon to honour the late legislator.

A requiem mass is scheduled for Wednesday, March 4, at the Nairobi Baptist Church in the capital. The service will provide leaders, friends, and constituents an opportunity to pay their final respects. On Thursday, March 5, a night vigil will be held in keeping with Kipsigis cultural traditions. The vigil forms part of the customary rites for Ng’eno and the other victims of the crash. Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu, who is also Ng’eno’s father-in-law, confirmed that the bodies of the MP and Wycliffe Kiprotich Rono will spend the night at his home. He explained that this arrangement follows Kipsigis customary practices, as the two were married under traditional rites.

The governor added that the four other victims, who were unmarried at the time of their deaths, will also be taken to Ng’eno’s home in line with family wishes and cultural customs. A joint funeral service will take place on Friday, March 6, at Emurua Dikirr Primary School, where thousands of mourners are expected to gather. After the service, the bodies will be transported to their respective homes for separate interments later that day.
