The ministry said the timely release of funds is aimed at cushioning vulnerable families and ensuring continued care for children in need.
Supporting Orphans and Vulnerable Children
The CT-OVC programme is a key government intervention designed to strengthen family- and community-based care for orphans and vulnerable children across Kenya. In a statement issued from Nairobi, the ministry noted that the programme encourages families and communities to foster and retain vulnerable children, while also supporting their long-term development.
Education, Health and Food Security Focus
Beyond financial assistance, the programme takes a holistic approach to child welfare. It supports:
- Increased school enrollment and retention
- Smooth transition across education levels
- Improved health and nutrition outcomes
- Enhanced household food security
- Stronger child protection mechanisms at the community level
Government Reaffirms Commitment to Social Protection
The announcement was signed by CPA Carren Ageng’o, Principal Secretary at the State Department for Children Services, reaffirming the government’s commitment to safeguarding the welfare of Kenya’s most vulnerable populations.
