Lawyer Angela Mulwa has been re-arrested at the Milimani Law Courts and is set to face murder charges over the death of Dr Victoria Thunya Mutiso. Mulwa is expected to be charged alongside her mother, Rose Mbithe Mulwa, also known as Rose Mbithe Ndetei, and another suspect, Chris Mulwa.
Three Accused of Murder
According to the charge sheet, the three are accused of killing Dr Mutiso on July 29, 2026, at around 9:30am along Mawensi Road in Kilimani, Nairobi County. The prosecution alleges that the suspects acted together with other individuals who have not yet been arrested or presented before the court.
Court Rejects Further Detention
Mulwa had previously been held by police as detectives investigated the circumstances surrounding Dr Mutiso’s death. The State had asked the court to allow additional time to detain her, arguing that investigations were still underway and that the case file had been forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) for a decision on whether she should be charged.
However, the court on Monday rejected the application seeking to extend her detention. Her lawyer, Danstan Omar, had opposed the request and raised concerns regarding the court’s jurisdiction.
Murder Case Set for Arraignment
Following her re-arrest, Mulwa is expected to be formally arraigned alongside the other two suspects on Tuesday. The prosecution is expected to present the murder charge before the court as investigations by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) continue. The case is likely to draw further attention as detectives pursue additional leads and establish the circumstances surrounding Dr Mutiso’s death.
