Officers from the National Police Service have destroyed 2,000 litres of illicit brew commonly known as Kangara following a targeted raid in Soweto, Nairobi. The operation forms part of a broader campaign by authorities to tackle the production and distribution of illegal alcohol, as well as curb the spread of narcotic drugs within communities. Police confirmed that the raid led to the seizure and destruction of multiple brewing tools used in the manufacture of the prohibited drink.

Authorities noted that the crackdown is aimed at addressing the rising cases of substance abuse, which continue to have far-reaching social, economic, and public health consequences. By dismantling such illegal operations, law enforcement agencies intend to cut off supply networks and discourage those involved in the trade.

The National Police Service reiterated its commitment to sustaining similar enforcement efforts across the country. Officials say the continued operations are designed to strengthen prevention measures and support national initiatives geared towards eliminating drug abuse and related criminal activities.
