The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has unveiled a shortlist of five candidates competing for a position at the Supreme Court, following the review of six applications. According to a notice released on Friday, those shortlisted include Justices Joseph Kipchumba Kigen Katwa, Warsame Abdulahi Mohammed, Joseph Kiplagat Sergon, Francis Kipruto Tuiyott, and former Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) Chair Anne Waceke Kiratu Makori.

Interview Schedule Announced

The JSC has scheduled interviews for the candidates to take place over two days, from Tuesday, April 28 to Wednesday, April 29. In line with its commitment to transparency, the Commission has invited members of the public to submit any relevant information regarding the candidates. Submissions will be treated with strict confidentiality.

The vacancy arose after the passing of Supreme Court Judge Mohamed Ibrahim in December last year after a brief illness. Subsequently, the JSC declared the position vacant and officially advertised it on January 27, 2026. The application window remained open until February 17, 2026.

The upcoming interviews mark a crucial step in filling the vacancy, as the Commission seeks to identify a suitable candidate to serve on the country’s highest court.
